Areas of dense fog persist into Monday AM; Scattered snow/mixed precip tonight and Monday; Snow chances increasing later in the week

4:26 PM Sunday, December 15, 2024

Dense fog is expected to persist along the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Duluth area tonight until approximately mid-morning tomorrow. A dense fog advisory remains in effect until 9 AM Monday, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less within the advisory area.

The positive aspect is that temperatures have risen sufficiently, reducing the likelihood of icing from freezing drizzle this afternoon. This pattern is expected to persist into the night, with temperatures remaining relatively stable. However, this does not rule out the possibility of encountering some patchy ice, particularly in the elevated areas along the North Shore of Lake Superior tonight.

Colder air works back into the Northland Monday night with temperatures by Tuesday only in the teens and 20s.
