Temperatures in Duluth will rise above freezing on Saturday, with highs between 34 and 38 degrees. The last time temperatures were at or above freezing was February 2nd, when it reached 33 degrees.
February 22nd will likely be the first day since February 2nd with a warmer than average temperature in Duluth.
On Monday, February 24th, temperatures in Duluth could reach 40 degrees. If this occurs, it will be the first time since January 30th that temperatures have reached or exceeded 40 degrees.
Wind will be an issue, however, due to changes in air masses, moving from arctic to milder air. Today, peak wind gusts reached 40 mph in Brainerd, 36 mph in Duluth, and 33 mph in both Hibbing and Ashland.
Sunday afternoon to early Monday looks quite windy again with gusts reaching 20 to 45 mph.
The arctic air is done for now, but there’s still a lot of cold air to the north. However, for most of next week, the upper air flow doesn’t look to amplify enough to bring down this cold air into the Northland.

We will see an active clipper track setup over the next seven days; however, the tracks of these systems do not appear very favorable to get a lot of snow or mixed precipitation in the Northland at least through the middle of next week.
A clipper sometime next Friday/Saturday may take a more favorable track to bring some accumulating snow or mixed precipitation to parts of the Northland, but that one is still quite far off in the future, and there is no doubt that we will see the computer models shift the track of that system several times before late next week.
Here’s the NWS Blend of Models snowfall forecast through Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
