A wind advisory is in effect from about mid-evening through early Tuesday morning for a part of northeast Minnesota, including the North Shore, Arrowhead, and Duluth area. Northwest winds with gusts of 20 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts as high as 45 mph tonight into early Tuesday morning.

HRRR model wind gust forecast through 4 AM Tuesday.

A strong area of low pressure of around 992 mb over far southern Ontario, east of International Falls, this afternoon will continue to move off to the east through tonight.

The Northland is in the warmer part of this system this afternoon, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s, along with southwesterly winds.

The exception to these mild temperatures is near Lake Superior, where an onshore wind developed this morning and has continued into this afternoon, keeping temperatures in the 30s and 40s within about 10 to 15 miles of Lake Superior.

Will transition from warm air advection today to cold air advection tonight as a strong cold front crosses the Northland later today.
