Western parts of the Northland experienced a rainy day, with rainfall amounts ranging from about 0.20 inches to over half an inch west of the line from International Falls to Aitkin. However, areas east of that corridor stayed dry with no rain reported today.

Note: Since September 1st, Duluth has received 3.13 inches less precipitation than usual and is over 9 inches below average (-9.21″) for the year starting January 1st.
Rain will continue this evening in western parts of the Northland but will taper off overnight. A few showers might occur across the region on Thursday and Halloween (Friday), though no significant or widespread precipitation is anticipated for the rest of the week.
Note: Areas of fog are expected to form across northeast Minnesota and possibly extend into northwest Wisconsin later tonight, lingering into Wednesday morning.

Additional rainfall through midnight tonight will range from around 0.05 to as much as 0.25 inches in far western parts of the area.
The weather pattern remains highly amplified today, with a deep trough extending from the northern Plains to the southern Plains, a ridge spanning eastern Canada to the Great Lakes, and another ridge over the southwest U.S., where southern California and southern Arizona experienced widespread temperatures in the 90s.
