This morning, some spots in northeastern Minnesota dipped below zero, including Hog Creek, west of Grand Marais, which hit -9 degrees, and Seagull Lake, which recorded -5 degrees.

Skibo, MN saw a low of -1°F this morning, while Ely hit a low of 0°F.

Cotton, Hibbing, and Eveleth saw a chilly low of 1°F this morning.

A couple of quick bursts of arctic air are expected to sweep across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin over the next week or so.

A wave of cold air will move through the area from Sunday into early Monday, followed by a stronger push of arctic air around Wednesday or Thursday. Another blast of arctic air is possible next weekend. Subzero lows could hit much of the Northland, especially in the middle of the week and again next weekend.

A winter storm is sweeping northeast across the Midwest today, with a low-pressure system over southeast Iowa set to move further northeast tonight.

Goes-19 water vapor loop ending 5:06 PM CT Saturday, November 29, 2025.

We’ve seen widespread accumulating snow with this system today, with reports of about 3 to 6 inches of snow in southern Minnesota and similar amounts in southern Wisconsin up until 5 PM today.

Snow will keep falling tonight across northwest Wisconsin and east central Minnesota, gradually tapering off from west to east overnight into Sunday morning.

In Duluth, the snow should start letting up early Sunday morning, sometime between 1 and 3 AM.

HRRR model forecast through 10 AM Sunday.
