It’s going to snow on Tuesday.

We’re getting a break from the snow today, but another round is on the way for Tuesday as we slip back into a clipper pattern.

In Duluth and Superior, Expect snow on Tuesday from around 5 AM to 11 AM, with totals between 0.5 and 1.5 inches. It’ll be light and fluffy, with morning temperatures near 5 to 10 degrees, warming into the teens by afternoon. Flurries and snow showers may stick around into the afternoon, but most of the accumulation should happen before noon. Winds will be light to moderate at 5 to 15 mph, gusting up to 20, shifting from south-southeast to northwest. Some patchy blowing snow is possible, but nothing like what we saw on Sunday.

These clippers usually don’t have much moisture, but what they do have will run into this cold airmass, which should help produce some snow. Sometimes they can overperform, and with the cold air in place, we could see higher snow ratios—fluffy snow at 14:1 or greater. It wouldn’t be surprising if a few spots get up to around 2 inches, but any totals like that would likely be pretty isolated.

Today’s highs in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin were in the upper single digits to teens, about 10 to 15 degrees colder than the usual for December 29th, and the pattern this week looks chilly overall.

Much colder weather made a comeback today. At 6 AM Monday, temperatures in the purple areas on the map were 20 to over 40 degrees colder than they were at the same time on Sunday.
