A Balanced Month, but No Warmth Lately

So far this month in Duluth, we’ve had an equal number of warmer-than-average and cooler-than-average days, nine each. However, the last time temperatures were above average was back on June 12th, over a week ago now.

June 2026 temperatures have been pretty close to average, with a few spots running slightly warmer. Overall, the big story this month has been the lack of extended heat and humidity.

Across the U.S., most places are seeing temperatures close to average this month, with a few exceptions—areas in orange are warmer than usual, while those in green are cooler than normal.

The highest temperatures recorded in the Northland so far this month

International Falls: 88 on the 9th
Brainerd: 87 on the 10th
Hibbing: 85 on the 10th
Ashland: 85 on the 10th
Duluth: 80 on the 3rd

Typically, Duluth gets about five days in June with temperatures at or above 80 degrees, but this year, only one day has hit that mark—and it happened nearly three weeks ago.

Coldest temperatures recorded this month

Ashland: 35 on the 1st
International Falls: 35 on the 21st
Hibbing: 36 on the 19th
Brainerd: 41 on the 19th and 15th
Duluth: 42 on the 19th

*In International Falls, June usually has about four days with low temperatures below 40 degrees. So far this June, there have been two such days, with the record being 14 days set back in 1969.

*So far this month, Hibbing has had three days with lows dipping below 40 degrees. The average is four days, while the record is 15, set in 2004.
