Dense fog is covering northeast Minnesota and parts of northwest Wisconsin this morning, with a dense fog advisory in place until late this morning and lasting into early afternoon for the North Shore of Lake Superior. Visibility in the advisory area will drop to a quarter mile or less.

Here’s the latest update on visibility in the area as of 8 AM today.

Here’s a close-up look at the visibility conditions in the Twin Ports area this morning.

Thompson Hill: 0.09 miles
Duluth Airport: 0.12 miles
Duluth – Sky Harbor Airport: 0.50 miles
Superior Airport: 0.50 miles

Note: Dense fog will slowly lift in the Northland from late this morning to early afternoon, clearing first in areas away from Lake Superior. Near Lake Superior, it may take longer for the fog and low clouds to dissipate, but some sunshine could break through by mid to late afternoon. However, more fog is expected to roll back in this evening and overnight.
