For the U.S. in June:
-June 2012 was the 14th warmest on record with an average temperature of 71.2F which is 2.0 degrees above the 20th century average.
-From mid to late month a widespread heat wave resulted in over 170 all-time record high temperatures that were either broken or tied.
-Colorado experienced their warmest June on record, while 5 states had below average temperatures, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Oregon. Washington state had much below normal temperatures.
-This was the 10th driest June on record with 2.27″ of precipitation which was 0.62″ below average.
-Wyoming had their driest June on record.
-The average temperature in the U.S. from January-June, 2012 was 52.9F/4.5 degrees above normal.
-The average temperature in the U.S. from July 2011-June 2012 was 56.0F/3.2 degrees above normal.
-Washington state had near normal temperatures, while the rest of the U.S. had warmer than normal temperatures during the last 12 months.
