*Flood Advisory*

A flood advisory has been issued until 6:15 PM CDT This Evening for the following Counties:

Aitkin, MN
Northeastern Crow Wing, MN
East Central Cass, MN
Southeastern Itasca, MN

*Slow moving thunderstorms have been affecting Northcentral and Eastcentral Minnesota This Afternoon with locally heavy rainfall.  Doppler radar estimates that 1″ to nearly 3″ of rain has fallen in the advisory area.

*Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams and ponding of water in urban areas…Highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.

A flood warning remains in effect for the Mississippi River near Aitkin affecting Aitkin County.

*At 3 PM Friday the stage was 14.7 feet.
*Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

*Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

*The river will continue to fall to a stage of 14.4 feet by Tomorrow Morning.
*At 15.0 feet minor flooding of low lying areas occurs in Aitkin.

A flood warning remains in effect for the Mississippi River at Fort Ripley affecting Morrison and Crow Wing Counties.

*At 2 PM Friday the stage was 10.3 feet.
*Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

*Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
*The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by Tomorrow Evening.

*At 11.0 feet this will cause minor flooding of rural areas near Fort Ripley.
