A flash flood watch has been issued for the North Shore of Lake Superior. The watch is in effect from late Tonight until Wednesday Afternoon.
Counties included in the watch:
Southern Lake, MN
Southern Cook, MN
Some cities included in the watch:
Two Harbors, MN…Silver Bay, MN…Tofte, MN…Lutsen, MN…Grand Marais, MN…and Grand Portage, MN.
Discussion:
A northward moving warm front combined with an upper level disturbance heading east out of the Northern Plains will work in concert with a flow of deep moist air, this will result in the development of showers and thunderstorms by later Tonight and continuing into Wednesday. Heavy rainfall is possible with totals of 1-4″ by Wednesday Afternoon.
*Due to the steep terrain along the North Shore, this heavy rain may cause flash flooding.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
Note: The Storm Prediction Center has outlined Western-Southern parts of the Northland in a Slight Severe Thunderstorm risk for Tonight, the main threats are from large hail and damaging winds.

Cass, MN
Crow Wing, MN
Aitkin, MN
Pine, MN
Burnett, WI
Washburn, WI
