Low pressure of 1002mb was just south of International Falls, Minnesota late This Morning. Snow and strong winds are occurring on the backside of the low in Northwest Minnesota with visibilities as low as 1/2 mile at times. Temperatures are only in the lower 30s with wind chills in the middle teens to lower 20s This Morning in Northwest Minnesota.

Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin have been on the mild side of the low (so far) temperatures were in the upper 40s to middle 50s from far Northern to Northeast Minnesota, and in all of Northwest Wisconsin…Colder air is moving up from the southwest, however, with temperatures falling into the mid to upper 30s from Walker, Cass Lake, and Grand Rapids, south toward the Brainerd Lakes.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Friday for the following Counties:
Koochiching MN
Northern Itasca MN
Some cities included in the advisory are:
International Falls…Northome…Bigfork…and Togo.
Expect occasional rain during the Afternoon with the rain becoming mixed with snow. The change-over to all snow should occur from late This Afternoon into the early Evening hours. Snow will then fall Tonight and last into Friday. Northwest winds will also increase to 15 to 25 mph Tonight and Friday which could lead to areas of blowing snow.
Total snowfall accumulations of 3-6″ are expected in the advisory area by Friday Evening with amounts of up to 8″ possible for Birchdale and Loman in Northwest Koochiching County.
A winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. Use caution when traveling, especially in open areas that are more exposed to the wind. Roads may be slick and hazardous, so allow extra time to reach your destination.

Northern St. Louis MN
Some cities included in the advisory are:
Orr…Crane Lake…and Ely.
Expect occasional light rain and drizzle through the Afternoon. Snow will begin to mix in with the rain during the Evening with a change-over to all snow occurring between mid-Evening and Midnight. Some snow will then fall Overnight into Friday. Northwest winds will also increase to 15 to 25 mph later Tonight and Friday which could lead to areas of blowing snow.
Total snowfall accumulations of 1-4″ are expected in the advisory area by Friday Evening.

A wind advisory is in effect until 7 PM CDT This Evening for the following Counties:
Southern Cass MN
Crow Wing MN
Southern Aitkin MN
Some cities included in the advisory are:
Pine River…Brainerd…Aitkin…and McGregor.
Sustained winds to 30 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph. Driving will be difficult especially for high profile vehicles.
A wind advisory means that winds to 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult. Use extra caution.
