A cool but dry October at Duluth, Minnesota.

*The map above represents the temperature departure for October 2012.  A cool month in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Duluth was right around 1 degree below average.

*Here’s the precipitation departure map for October 2012.  Two distinct storm tracks last month, one favored the Northern Plains into Northwestern Minnesota (125-300% above what those areas typically get in a normal October) The other one was through the Central/Eastern Great Lakes.  Unfortunately in between the two main storm tracks there wasn’t much precipitation with Central/Eastern/Southern Minnesota’s October precipitation totals just 25-50% of normal.

*Precipitation departure map for October 2011.  Not much change between October 2011 and October 2012 in terms of the amount of precipitation that fell in the Twin Ports.  1.34″ this year, compared to 1.13″ in 2011.  In other words, we saw about a quarter inch more of precip this October vs. last.
