Today’s Weather Summary for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin
A vigorous disturbance along with an area of low pressure passed through the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes Today. This system brought a band of significant snow to parts of Southern, Central, and Eastern Minnesota, and over much of Western, Central, and Northern Wisconsin Today. This snow also affected Southern portions of the Northland with several inches of accumulation reported especially over parts of Sawyer, Price, and Iron Counties.
Clouds decreased from NW-SE This Afternoon as the system responsible in producing the Morning snow moved away. Highs Today ranged from the single digits below zero in Northern Minnesota to the teens above in Eastern Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. Winds were out of the north or northwest at 10 to 25 mph.

Tonight (January 30)
More arctic air moves in Tonight as high pressure settles into the Northern Plains. Clear to partly cloudy skies are forecast Tonight with lows in the single digits, teens, and 20s below with a few spots possibly falling into the 30s below. Winds will be out of the northwest at 10 to 20 mph with wind chill values of 25 below to 40 below developing by late This Evening.
Friday and Friday Night (January 31)
January ends on a cold note but that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given the weather pattern we’ve seen most of the winter.
Partly cloudy skies are expected this period with highs ranging from around zero to the low teens. Friday Night’s low temperatures will be in the single digits, teens, and 20s below. Winds will shift to the southwest at 10 to 15 mph as we get on the backside of high pressure which will move south/east of our area.

A few snow showers and flurries are expected on Saturday as a weak system passes through the Northland, otherwise this period looks generally dry.
