Forecast Discussion for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin

Short Term Forecast – Confidence High.

Tonight through Wednesday Night (April 29-30)

April is ending on a very gloomy note as a slow moving surface and upper level area of low pressure lift north/northeast out of Iowa.  This system will continue to bring occasional rain/showers to the Northland. Temperatures Tonight and Wednesday Morning will be cold enough in spots to support snow or a mix of snow, sleet, and rain.  The temperature profile will become less favorable for any frozen precipitation Tomorrow into Tomorrow Night.

Lows Tonight and Wednesday Night will be in the 30s with highs Tomorrow in the 30s and 40s.  Northeast winds Tonight at 10 to 25 mph will shift to the north at 10 to 20 mph for Wednesday and Wednesday Night.

Extended Forecast – Confidence:  High

Thursday through Saturday (May 1-3)

Scattered showers will likely continue on Thursday as low pressure begins to pull away as it lifts through the Great Lakes.  There will be additional chances for spotty showers though for Friday and Saturday as a few disturbances approach from the northwest.  High temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s Thursday and Friday and mainly in the 40s on Saturday.  Lows Thursday Night and Friday Night will mainly be in the 30s.
