*WINTER STORM WARNING*

Location:  Most of northwest Wisconsin and portions of east central Minnesota.

Timing:  6 AM Monday until 12 PM CST Tuesday.

Counties included in the warning:

Southern Aitkin MN
Pine MN

Burnett WI
Washburn WI

Some cities included in the warning:

Aitkin
McGrath
Hinckley
Pine City

Danbury
Siren
Grantsburg
Minong
Trego
Spooner
Shell Lake

Discussion:  Snow will develop Monday Morning with snow heavy at times Monday Afternoon through Monday Night.  Snow will taper off from west to east on Tuesday.

Total snowfall accumulations:  6-12″ with locally higher amounts expected.

Visibility:  Will be reduced to a half mile or less in heavy snow.

Impacts:  Severe travel delays are expected as snow piles up.

A winter storm warning for heavy snow means heavy snow accumulation is anticipated and that snowfall rates of one inch per hour or greater can be expected at times.  Expect snow and ice covered roads and visibility less than a quarter mile.  If you must travel exercise extreme caution and allow extra time to reach your destination.  Let someone know your travel route and expected arrival time and have a working cell phone in case you become stranded.  Keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle including a flashlight, food, and water.  If you choose to travel be aware that you may become stranded and that it may take many hours for help to arrive.

Discussion:  Snow will develop Monday Morning with snow heavy at times Monday Afternoon through Tuesday.  The snow will begin to taper Tuesday Afternoon, but lake effect snow will be possible along the South Shore of Lake Superior.

Total snowfall accumulations:  8-16″ with locally higher amounts possible.

Visibility:  Will be reduced to a half mile or less in heavy snow.

Total snowfall accumulations:  6″ or more of snow is possible in the watch area.

Visibility:  Expect visibilities to drop to a half mile or less at times especially later Monday into Monday Night.

Impacts:  Snow covered roads and hazardous travel.

A winter storm watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.  Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

*WINTER STORM WATCH*

Timing:  Monday Morning through late Monday Night.

Discussion:  Snow will develop Monday Morning and will continue through Monday Night before tapering off Tuesday Morning.

Total snowfall accumulations:  6″ or greater accumulation is possible in the watch.

Visibility:  Expect visibilities to drop to a half mile or less at times especially later Monday into Monday Night.

Impacts:  Snow covered roads and hazardous travel.

A winter storm watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.  Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
