Wind Chill Warning for the entire Northland through Noon CST Monday.  Source, NWS hazards map.  Note:  Will likely see additional wind chill warnings and advisories throughout the week.

The extreme cold is leading to some closings and delays in the Northland.  Here’s the list as of 7:45 PM This Evening per Duluth News Tribune:   http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/news/education/3647619-closings-and-delays-monday-jan-5

Wind Chill Warning covers all of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin through Noon CST Monday, more information at this link:  http://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=dlh&wwa=wind%20chill%20warning

The weather during the next few days won’t be changing much.  The main story will be the frigid temperatures and dangerously low wind chills.  Lows Tonight will be in the teens and 20s below, a few spots in northern Minnesota might even drop to 30 below or colder!  Wind chill temperatures through Monday Morning will range from 30 below to around 50 below zero.

A clipper system passes well southwest of the Northland Monday and early Tuesday with a swath of significant snow likely but again this won’t affect our area.  Temperatures will modify slightly on Monday with highs in the single digits below to single digits above zero with lows Monday Night in the single digits below to around 20 below zero.

4″ or greater snowfall probability forecast valid through Monday Evening.  Source, Weather Prediction Center.

Red=High risk for at least 4″ of snow.
Green=Moderate risk for at least 4″ of snow.
Blue=Slight risk for at least 4″ of snow.

A reinforcing shot of bitterly cold air arrives Tuesday into Wednesday along with another round of gusty winds which will likely lead to more dangerous wind chill temperatures.

Keeping an eye on a possible snow system for Thursday, although right now this looks to be a minor event with perhaps an inch of accumulation across the Northland.
