The disturbance which brought the wet snow or mixture of precipitation to parts of the Northland early This Morning exited to the east, behind it we were left with mostly cloudy skies although there has been some clearing at times mainly in Western-Northwest areas. There has also been some fog and drizzle Today near Lake Superior. High temperatures were in the 30s and 40s with winds out of the east or northeast at 5 to 15 mph with higher gusts near Lake Superior.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence: Medium to High.
Tonight (April 8)
Low pressure which was over Colorado This Afternoon will move out into the Central Plains Tonight. We should see some precipitation develop later Tonight mainly over Southern portions of the Northland with rain, snow, and even some freezing rain possible. Low temperatures will be in the 30s with 20s in extreme Northeast Minnesota. Winds will be out of the north or east at 5 to 15 mph.
Thursday and Thursday Night (April 9)
Low pressure will deepen as it lifts northeast out of the Central Plains and into the Central/Eastern Great Lakes region during this period. Rain and snow will affect Northwest Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota on Thursday with precipitation diminishing from SW-NE Thursday Night. Precipitation could be all snow in times of stronger lift and or higher precipitation rates; but in times of weaker lift and lighter precipitation rates precipitation will likely be in the form of rain/drizzle, or a rain-snow mix.
Note: There is a chance for 1-4″ of slushy snow accumulation in some parts of Northwest Wisconsin by late Thursday Night…The area at greatest risk appears to be in Iron, Price, and Sawyer Counties. An inch or less of slush is possible for extreme Northwest Wisconsin down into Eastern Minnesota.
High temperatures on Thursday will be in the 30s and 40s with milder 50s in Western parts of the area where some sunshine should develop. Low temperatures Thursday Night will be in the 20s and 30s. Winds Tomorrow will be out of the northeast or north at 10 to 20 mph with winds Tomorrow Night out of the north or northwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Friday through Sunday (April 10-12)
High pressure builds into the Upper Midwest for Friday and Saturday with moderating temperatures. There is a chance for a few snow or rain showers though mainly Friday Morning as a weak disturbance drops S-SE through the region. Dry weather is expected from Friday Afternoon-Saturday. The next chance for showers comes Sunday as a low pressure system approaches from the west. Isolated thunderstorms may even occur later this weekend.
High temperatures on Friday are forecast to be in the 40s and 50s with lows Friday Night mainly in the 30s. Highs Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be in the 50s and maybe even some 60s with cooler temperatures along the North Shore of Lake Superior. Lows Saturday Night will be in the 40s.

(April 13-18)
A few showers could linger into early Monday (13th) as the system that affects us late this weekend exits to the east. Our next chance for rain occurs between late Tuesday-Thursday (14th-16th) as low pressure heads out of the Rockies and Plains. Near to below average temperatures are forecast from the 13th-18th.
