Note: One of the tornadoes that hit Northern Illinois Thursday Evening was given an EF-4 rating (Violent tornado) per NWS Chicago, Illinois. Max winds with this tornado reached 200 mph. The tornado tracked from near Rochelle to near Belvidere and impacted the community of Fairdale. 22 injuries and 2 deaths from this tornado.

High pressure of 1020mb has moved into Iowa early This Evening while deep low pressure of 988mb tracks through Western Quebec, in between these surface features was a potent upper level disturbance which dropped south-southeast through the Upper Midwest Today. This disturbance brought scattered rain or snow showers to parts of the area early This Morning with additional light showers and sprinkles during the Afternoon mainly in parts of Northwest Wisconsin. High temperatures Today warmed into the 40s and 50s with north or northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph.

Short Term Forecast – Confidence: High.
Tonight (April 10)
High pressure will move southeast out of Iowa Tonight. Clear to partly cloudy skies will be found in our area with low temperatures mainly in the 30s but some locales will likely fall into the 20s. Winds will shift to the south or southwest at 5 to 15 mph.
Saturday and Saturday Night (April 11)
Southerly flow will increase this period as the pressure gradient tightens up between high pressure to our southeast and low pressure to our northwest. A warm air advection pattern develops across the Upper Midwest and this could lead to some clouds at times and maybe even a shower or two by Saturday Night although coverage should be very spotty. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the 50s and 60s with lows Saturday Night generally in the 40s. South winds are forecast at 10-20 mph with higher gusts possible.

Sunday through Tuesday (April 12-14)
Low pressure along with a warm front and cold front will move east through the Northland on Sunday — A warm/moist advection pattern will continue on Sunday ahead of this system with a SSW low level jet of 30-50 knots helping to transport some moisture and instability into our area. Dew points are expected to climb into the 40s with CAPE of 100-500 j/kg along with Lifted Indices of around zero to -3 degrees C.
A few spotty showers or isolated thunderstorms are possible in parts of the Northland Sunday Morning with a better chance for scattered showers or thunderstorms developing from west to east from late Sunday Afternoon into Sunday Evening.
Most of the area should be dry Monday and Tuesday but a few showers can’t be ruled out Monday Afternoon.
High temperatures on Sunday are forecast to be in the 50s and 60s with a few 70s even possible if we get enough sunshine. Lows Sunday Night will be in the 30s and 40s. Highs on Monday will be in the 50s with lows Monday Night in the 30s. Highs on Tuesday will be in the 50s and 60s.

Expecting above average temperatures next Wednesday (15th) After that will probably see near to possibly below average temperatures return from the 16th-20th. There could be some showers at times around the 15th-16th, and again sometime around the 18th-19th.
