Weather Summary for April 13, 2015
Location: Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin
The system which brought showers and some thunderstorms to parts of the Northland Sunday Evening has moved off to the east, but in its wake is a pool of cold air aloft with Afternoon 500mb temperatures of -26 to -34C, this combined with very steep lapse rates, weak instability, and warmer air near the surface led to some brief sprinkles and quite a bit of virga (Rain that doesn’t reach the ground) around the area Today. It was much cooler Today compared to Sunday with highs generally in the 50s, but this is still above average for mid April. Winds were out of the west or northwest at 15 to 30 mph with higher gusts.
Forecast Discussion for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin

Wednesday through Friday (April 15-17)
Dry weather continues from mid to late week but we will see a cold front slowly push SE into the Upper Midwest most likely on Thursday-early Friday, a few showers or areas of very light rain could accompany this front, but right now this doesn’t look like a widespread or significant rain event in our area.
