Brief weather summary for April 12, 2015
Location:  Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin

A cold front continues to move east across Minnesota This Evening.  An area of showers and thunderstorms developed along and ahead of this boundary around 4 PM Today and this activity continues to move east affecting Northeast, East Central, and Southern portions of Minnesota as of 8 PM with some rain also moving into Western parts of Wisconsin as of mid Evening.

Will see showers and scattered thunderstorms diminish from west to east in the Northland during the night as the cold front exits off to our east.

Breezy and cooler weather follows this front for Monday with highs in the 50s and lower 60s which is still above average for mid April.  There could be a few showers during the Afternoon-Evening hours in parts of the Northland but nothing significant is expected.  The bigger concern for Tomorrow will be the gusty west wind, low humidity, and mild temperatures which will make for a dangerous fire weather day — Thankfully some parts of the area are getting some much needed rain Tonight, so this may cut down on Monday’s fire danger somewhat, but the rain were seeing Tonight probably won’t help out too much.

Note:  Record warmth in Duluth, Minnesota Today.  The high temperature was 76 degrees which broke the previous record high temperature of 73 degrees which was set in 1908.

Note:  International Falls, Minnesota missed their record high temperature for April 12 by just 1 degree Today.  The high temp Today was 70 degrees; the record high is 71 degrees which was set in 1918.

Took a short drive west of Duluth late This Afternoon to catch the thunderstorms that were moving east out of Aitkin County Minnesota.  Ended up between Sawyer and Cromwell, Minnesota.  Nothing severe, but cool looking clouds and some lightning is always a nice thing to see in mid April this far north.
