The rain-snow line has moved into far Western-Southwest portions of the Northland as of 12 PM today, pretty much as expected.  Should see the rain-snow line advance farther to the south/east during the afternoon hours today with locations on top of the hill in Duluth possibly seeing some snow mixing in with the rain after 4-5 PM today while precipitation stays in the form of rain below the hill in Duluth and in Superior.

Low pressure has deepened to 992mb late this morning with the center of the low over Northeast Wisconsin – The black line on the map is the expected storm track through this evening.

The brown circled area on the map is the mid/upper level low and trough which will continue to dig south/east out of the Northern Plains thru tonight – Very impressive 12-hour 500mb height falls of 120-180 meters is occurring across a large portion of the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest and Western Great Lakes this morning as this whole system continues to phase and deepen.

Snowfall accumulation forecast thru Thursday morning per 13z RAP model.

Potential for around 0.5″-1.0″ of slushy snow in Western-Southern portions of the Northland with the Brainerd Lakes area northwest to Bemidji having the greatest chance for seeing around 1″ of snow.  The Arrowhead of Minnesota also has a chance for around 1″ to maybe 2″ of snow tonight.

Elsewhere the rain will continue but could mix with snow from time to time later today and tonight but any snowfall accumulation should only amount to a trace to a few tenths of an inch the way it looks now.

Temperature map from just before Noon today.  Low to mid 30s showing up along and west of a line from Baudette to Grand Rapids south to Aitkin.  Still warm enough for rain east of this line early this afternoon.
