Keeping an eye on a potential snow event that could hit Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin next Monday/Tuesday, November 30-December 1.  The map below is just a preliminary snowfall/storm track forecast and some changes to this map will likely be needed by Monday.  Right now it looks like the heaviest snowfall accumulation would be over Eastern South Dakota into much of Southwest Minnesota where greater than 6″ of snow is possible.  2-4″ snow totals are possible in the Twin Ports but these totals could increase or decrease in coming days.  The snow that does fall could be the wet/slushy variety though thanks to surface temperatures which will likely be very close to 32 degrees during this potential snow event.  We could also be dealing with gusty east winds in the Twin Ports Monday night and Tuesday morning so blowing snow could be an issue if it does snow.  Stay tuned for more updates!

A strong upper level low pressure system which is nearly stationary over the Southwest U.S. today will eventually make its way onto the Central Plains by Monday – This system is forecast to lift northeast into the Upper Midwest and West Central Great Lakes by next Tuesday (December 1)  Based on the current storm track and temperatures it does look like most of Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin will get some snow from Monday evening through Tuesday.  This could be a wet snowfall however as surface temperatures will be close to the freezing mark in portions of the Northland.  High temperatures on Tuesday are expected to be in the 20s and 30s.
