Widespread rainfall across the Northland Wednesday night with lingering rain showers over the area today as low pressure pulls off to the east while a moist/cyclonic flow around that low kept the showers going today in most of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Brief downpours have occurred in spots but overall rainfall intensity was fairly light today. Skies late this afternoon ranged from partly to mostly cloudy in western portions of the area while it was mostly cloudy in northwest Wisconsin and in northeast Minnesota. Highs today ranged from the low to mid 70s west of a line from Brainerd to Crane Lake with 60s over the rest of the area.
Scattered showers and some drizzle will linger in parts of the Northland this evening, then mainly dry overnight under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Areas of fog tonight, and some of that fog could be dense. Lows in the 40s and 50s.
Friday looks quite a bit nicer compared to today — Will have some sun but also some clouds passing through the Northland. No rain expected, and highs should generally be in the 70s.
Mainly dry Saturday with highs similar to Friday with temperatures in the 70s.
Note: High pressure will move into the upper Midwest Friday and will remain over the region through the weekend, but will also have a NW flow aloft in place, plus an upper level disturbance will approach from the northern Plains later in the weekend, this feature could bring a few showers to parts of the Northland on Sunday but right now it still looks like most of our area will remain dry Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Forecast for Duluth and Superior
