Weather Synopsis
Low pressure of 998mb was over northern South Dakota at 4 PM today — This low will track east/northeast, moving over northern Lake Superior by Thursday morning. Light snow will continue tonight over northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin but the snow will taper off during the night from SW-NE. Note: An easterly wind coming off Lake Superior could cause some lake enhanced snow tonight along the Higher Terrain of the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Lows tonight will be in the middle 20s to lower 30s.
Low pressure exits to the northeast for Thursday while high pressure builds in from the northwest. Could be a few lingering snow showers or flurries in parts of the Northland on Thursday but overall it looks quite a bit drier compared to today’s weather. Highs Thursday will be in the 30s to lower 40s.
Snow could return to the Northland from late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning which will be followed by some light rain, snow or drizzle from Saturday afternoon into Sunday as milder temperatures return for a brief time. Friday night’s snow will be caused by a warm air advection pattern while the precip over the weekend occurs as a broad low pressure system lifts northeast out of the western High Plains, this system will exit to the north/east by Sunday afternoon with colder temperatures returning at that time.
