Winter Weather Advisory for the North Shore of Lake Superior in northeast Minnesota in effect through Wednesday afternoon (Purple shaded area on map)
Radar loop through 5:15 PM CST, December 12, 2017. Seeing an area of mostly light snow moving south/east across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin early this evening.
Note: Low pressure of 1002mb over western Manitoba Province this evening will drop southeast, reaching southern Minnesota Wednesday morning, then will see this low head into northeastern Indiana by Wednesday evening. As the low drops SE it will deepen with a pressure falling to ~996mb. This system will continue to produce light snow at times over northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin through Wednesday. There could also be some patchy light freezing drizzle/light freezing rain later tonight through Wednesday morning especially over western/southern sections of the Northland. Easterly wind coming off Lake Superior combined with cold air in place will also cause some lake enhanced/lake effect snow especially on Wednesday along the North Shore of Lake Superior. The potential for North Shore lake effect snow will decrease by late Wednesday afternoon as winds shift to the north.
