Weather Synopsis
Skies were generally mostly cloudy with lingering smoke and haze across the Northland today although there has been some sunshine breaking through the clouds and haze at times. Highs ranged from around 70 to around 80 degrees today, and it was rather muggy with dew points this afternoon mostly in the mid 60s with Silver Bay reporting a dew point of 70 tropical degrees at 1 PM today.
Tonight and Monday:
The Northland will be impacted by a few different systems. The first is a cold front which pushes south/east of our area by Monday afternoon, the second is an upper level trough which passes through the upper Midwest tonight and Monday. Skies will generally be mostly cloudy tonight and Monday with some rain and showers expected in our area. A few thunderstorms are also possible especially tonight. Lift with the cold frontal boundary and the upper level trough should be enough to produce some rain in our area, I don’t think will see widespread heavy rainfall amounts with this system, but a few locations could pick up more than an inch of rain, but some others might only get a little bit of rain, possibly amounting to only a few hundredths of an inch or so.
Lows tonight will be in the 50s and 60s with highs Monday in the 60s and 70s. Looks like will get a stronger northeast flow developing over Lake Superior which pushes inland on Monday, wind gusts to 25 mph will be possible Monday for areas near Lake Superior.
Tuesday and Wednesday:
A few spotty showers could linger on Tuesday in some parts of the area, mainly northwest Wisconsin/far eastern Minnesota, otherwise it looks generally dry Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs Tuesday mainly in the 70s, highs Wednesday in the 70s to lower 80s.
Note: Rain chances return to the Northland late this week, especially on Friday (24th) the way it looks now.
