Highs Tuesday will range from the mid to upper 30s in far northern Minnesota with 40s to around 50 degrees in east-central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, but temperatures will fall into the 30s later in the afternoon as the showers move through.

The other big weather story in our area Tuesday will be the gusty winds which will be out of the southwest for most of the day, then will shift to the west-northwest by Tuesday evening once a cold front passes through. Wind gusts 20 to 30 mph are possible across the Northland with higher gusts possible from mid afternoon into the early evening hours.

A vigorous trough is digging southeast out of northern Saskatchewan province this Monday afternoon. This feature will head into the Northland Tuesday and will be accompanied by a cold front.
Some forcing will occur as the trough and cold front approaches which will help produce scattered showers across the area especially during the afternoon/early evening hours.
There will be some weak instability that develops during the afternoon hours in eastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin with CAPE to around 200 J/kg along with steepening mid level lapse rates to 7.0-8.0 c/km, this could be enough to develop a few thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon with potential for some small hail due to colder temperatures aloft.
