Mesoscale Discussion issued for parts of the Northland; severe potential (watch possible by late this afternoon)

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma is keeping an eye on the severe weather potential this afternoon with a mesoscale discussion issued for parts of north-central and northeast Minnesota. There is a 60% chance that a watch could be issued in and close to the yellow shaded area on the map below.

Radar image from 1:50 PM shows a few showers and thunderstorms developing in far northern Minnesota, generally from around International Falls to Bigfork. Storms are moving to the east.

Eventually we could see a few thunderstorms develop farther south, but this is a more conditional threat compared to far northern Minnesota.
