Warmer air is moving east into the Northland this afternoon which is causing an area of light snow showers and flurries. Snowfall accumulations should remain less than 1″ late this afternoon/early this evening.

Still looking at a decent warm up which is forecast to begin later this week, possibly carrying over into Christmas the way it looks now. Could have daytime highs at or above the freezing mark in the Northland on a few days ~December 21-25.

…Weather Summary…

Several weak systems will pass through the region through midweek. Each one of these systems could produce a few flurries or snow showers at times but no major snow events are expected through the middle of the week.

A little milder tonight with lows ranging from the single digits below to around 10 above zero. Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies are expected tonight with some passing flurries and snow showers with snowfall accumulations less than an inch.

Monday’s weather will feature partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs in the teens to lower 20s. A few flurries are possible on Monday.

A reinforcing shot of cold arctic air moves into the Northland for Tuesday night-Wednesday with lows Tuesday night in the teens and 20s below, maybe a few 30s below in the typical cold spots. Highs on Wednesday in the single digits below to single digits above zero.

Note: Overall it looks like a fairly dry pattern for the Northland this week, which may carry over into next week per model data.
