Record Heat and at least one wildfire reported in the Northland today

At around 3 PM today, Sunday, August 15, 2021 a wildfire was reported in the Greenwood Lake area approximately 15 miles southwest of Isabella, Minnesota in Lake County. The current size of this fire was a couple hundred acres as of 3 PM Sunday. This fire and its smoke plume was picked up nicely on Duluth Doppler radar around 4 PM today.

~6 PM Sunday, the Ely Echo reported that cabin owners on McDougal Lake were being evacuated due to the Greenwood Lake fire.

Hot spots/fires also show up nicely on Goes-16 fire imagery represented by the pink colors (outlined in yellow)

A record high temperature was set at International Falls, Minnesota today, this a day after International Falls recorded a low of 38 on August 14, and that 38 degree low was just 3 degrees shy of their record low temperature of 35.

New record high for 8/15: 90 set in 2021

Old record high for 8/15: 89 set in 1967, 1988 and 2015.
