Snow Update

4:02 PM Tuesday, December 28, 2021

Winter Weather Advisory has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for portions of northern Minnesota including the cities of International Falls, Littlefork, Big Falls, Northome and Bigfork, this winter storm warning is in effect until Midnight tonight.

All the other winter weather headlines in the Northland remain unchanged as of 3 PM today.

Snowfall Reports from around the Northland for Tuesday, December 28, 2021

Totals below are thru 2 PM Tuesday

6 WNW Lake Shore, MN: 4.0″
1 NW Motley, MN: 3.5″
Federal Dam, MN: 3.0″

UPDATED SNOWFALL FORECAST

With reports of 3-4″ of snow already around the Brainerd Lakes area I did bump the totals into the 5-7″ range over a good portion of north-central Minnesota.

I also increased snow amounts along the North Shore to 5-8″ with a chance for a few higher amounts of >8″.

Elsewhere a general 2-5″ snowfall is expected through late this evening.

We are seeing areas of moderate to heavy snow (green colors on image below) lift north-northeast across parts of the Northland impacting the Duluth area late this afternoon.
