Some snow this evening otherwise another cold night ahead

1:54 PM Sunday, February 13, 2022

It was another bitterly cold morning in the Northland with widespread temperatures in the -20s and -30s with even some -40s in northern Minnesota this morning, now we’ve got some snow moving in for late this afternoon into this evening as another clipper moves SE through the area. Highest snow amounts with this clipper are expected to be over parts of north-central Minnesota where as much as 2 to 3 inches of snow is possible through late this evening, with lower totals ranging from an inch or two for areas farther east. The Arrowhead and eastern portions of northwest Wisconsin look to get the least amount of snow with accumulations <1″.

Temperatures will drop once again early Monday morning as the snow moves out and skies clear a bit.

For Duluth — Some snow is possible from around 6 PM this evening to Midnight tonight with total accumulations of around an inch or less.

Here’s my snowfall forecast through late this evening.

Some real cool features showing up on visible satellite imagery over the Great Lakes today with several lake swirls (meso-lows) showing up on satellite imagery.

Here’s a zoomed in view of Lake Superior which shows a lake swirl over the eastern part of the lake today.
