Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected over the next few days from the Dakotas into northwestern Minnesota with some of this activity possibly affecting parts of northern and central Minnesota at times, but areas farther east including the Arrowhead, North Shore and much of northwest Wisconsin will likely miss out on getting much rain at least through Tuesday.

One of the big weather stories over the next several days will be an expansion of a massive heat dome which blankets the Southern Rockies and Central and Southern Plains today where temperatures are in the 90s and 100s this afternoon.
This heat dome will build farther north/east through the middle of next week with the northern extent of this heat looking to move into parts of the Northland on Tuesday (June 14) this is when we may see temperatures well into the 80s and possibly even a few 90s, but it will be much cooler near Lake Superior.
There are signs showing up in model forecasts for this ridge to build back north into the Northern Plains and upper Midwest for next weekend (June 18-20 time period) with 80- and 90-degree temperatures possible during that aforementioned time period.
High temperatures in the 60s and 70s will continue in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin for Sunday and Monday with 50s near Lake Superior, but temperatures will soar well into the 80s on Tuesday with a few 90s even possible across southern parts of the Northland, but it will be cooler once again near Lake Superior.
A very humid air mass is sitting to our south today with dew points in the 60s to low-mid 70s, while a much more comfortable air mass covered the Northland with dew points mostly in the 40s and 50s this afternoon.
It’ll take another day or so before a muggier air mass invades the Northland but that should happen Monday and Tuesday with 60-to-70-degree dew points expected in much of the Northland except closer to Lake Superior and that is due to temperatures being cooler which leads to the dew point temperature also being lower.
