Some rain at times Wednesday night through this weekend; Much cooler temps near Lake Superior with a gusty NE wind Wednesday and again Friday

*A wetter pattern develops in the Northland the rest of this week with the first chance for scattered showers coming late Wednesday afternoon/night, followed by a greater chance for rain for Thursday and Friday, this rain won’t be continuous, however, with dry hours mixed in.

*There is also a potential for a few thunderstorms in the Northland Wednesday night into Thursday due to some elevated CAPE over the area, but severe weather is not expected.

*Rain chances continue in the Northland this weekend as a frontal boundary stalls out across the area, but again much like Thursday and Friday will likely have some dry hours mixed in between the waves of rain this weekend.

Greatest rainfall amounts continue to be focused mostly north of Highway 2 in northeast Minnesota with 2-3″+ totals possible through Sunday morning, while much of the rest of the Northland is expected to get around an inch of rain through Sunday morning per NWS Blend of Models.

There continues to be a slight risk for flash flooding (yellow) Thursday through early Friday across parts of northern and northeastern Minnesota with a lower risk (marginal) for flash flooding in green.

*Areas of low clouds and patchy drizzle are possible tonight near Lake Superior as a cooler and gusty northeast wind develops this evening.

*Expect cooler temperatures over the entire Northland Wednesday, with the coolest temperatures found near Lake Superior where temperatures will be about 20 degrees cooler compared to the temperatures, we saw Tuesday afternoon.

Above normal precipitation is expected in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin through Sunday.
