-A quiet weather pattern will continue in the Northland through Saturday, but a more active weather pattern looks to be setting up from late this weekend into next week.
-Strong fall storm arrives Sunday evening bringing occasional rain to the Northland, with rain chances continuing on Monday.
-A few thunderstorms are also possible Sunday night with a lesser chance on Monday.
-A warming trend continues for the rest of this week with highs in the upper 40s and 50s Thursday, 50s to lower 60s Friday and Saturday, and in the 60s to around 70 Sunday. Note: Cooler temperatures are likely near Lake Superior this weekend due to an easterly wind.

The first fall storm of the season to come out of Colorado is set to hit the Northern Plains and upper Midwest late this weekend into early next week – A sign of things to come???
- Low pressure initially over northern Colorado or western Nebraska Sunday morning moves northeast reaching northwest Minnesota Monday evening.
- Winter storm potential with strong winds and heavy snow on the backside of the low across parts of the Northern Rockies and perhaps into the western Dakotas Sunday-Monday.
- A threat for strong to severe thunderstorms to the east of the low from eastern South Dakota and southwest Minnesota into eastern Nebraska, western Iowa and eastern Kansas late Sunday afternoon/night.
- Occasional rain for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Sunday evening into Monday. A few thunderstorms are also possible especially Sunday night.
Little to no snow is expected with this storm in the Northland for early next week since the low tracks west of our area.
Widespread rainfall amounts ranging from 0.50″ to over 1″ are possible in the Northland Sunday evening through Tuesday morning.

A highly amplified weather pattern continues today with a deep upper-level trough covering the Great Lakes and eastern U.S., while a strong upper-level ridge remained over the western U.S. today.
This pattern will be breaking down in dramatic fashion this weekend into next week — More or less will just see a reversal to the pattern, with a trough setting up over the western U.S., while ridging sets up across the southern and eastern U.S.
One of the outcomes from this new pattern will be for warmer temperatures to return to the Northland with above normal temperatures likely this weekend into early next week.
