Temperatures are running -15 to nearly -30 degrees colder in Minnesota this afternoon (Monday) compared to the temperatures from Sunday afternoon.
Very warm temperatures in the 70s and even a few 80s were common in Minnesota and Wisconsin on Sunday, but temperatures this afternoon are running closer to normal for this time of year, ranging from the mid 40s to mid 50s, with some 60s holding on for now in the Arrowhead of Minnesota.
A cooling trend will continue over the next few days but we’re not looking at temperatures as cold as they were early last week. Highs Tuesday through Thursday will mainly be in the 40s to around 50 in the Northland which is near normal to slightly below normal in late October.

Note: I’m not seeing any major systems with rain or snow impacting our area for the rest of this month, so October 2022 will likely finish well below normal in the precipitation department since we’re already running well over -1″ below normal for the month.

A little rain is likely tonight over northwest Wisconsin and far eastern Minnesota and the Arrowhead.
A few rain or mixed rain/snow showers are possible for a time Tuesday morning around the International Falls area and points west/southwest, but no snow accumulation is expected.

Looks like will see higher 500mb heights and ridging build back into the Great Lakes region later this week and this weekend.
Much above normal temperatures are forecast in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin late this week into early next week, and possibly even into the middle of next week with highs in the 50s and 60s likely in our area.
We may begin to see a bit of a pattern change sometime during the first week of November.
And it’s certainly possible will see these much above normal temperature anomalies trend cooler in future model runs over the next several days, but for now we’re looking at another stretch of much above normal temperatures from November 1-6.
