Another very cold night ahead of us with lows once again falling into the teens and 20s with a few single digits possible in northern Minnesota.
Here are the record low temperatures for April 24.
International Falls, MN: 10 set in 1909
Ashland, WI: 15 set in 1893 and 1936
Brainerd, MN: 15 set in 1956
Hibbing, MN: 16 set in 2013
Duluth, MN: 19 set in 1956
Note — Hibbing likely has the best chance to set or tie its record low temperature Monday morning.

More below average temperatures are likely for much of the week ahead in the Northland, although temperatures around midweek will at least get within a few degrees of normal with highs in the upper 40s to middle 50s in the Northland, with Wednesday and Thursday looking like the warmest days of the week. No signs of any 60 or 70 degree temperatures in our area through next weekend.
Persistent upper level trough/northwest flow aloft keeps our area on the cool side this week with no signs of this pattern breaking down through next weekend, in fact we could see another upper low/trough setup shop somewhere from the upper Midwest to the Great Lakes during the April 28-May 1 time frame, but there continues to be considerable model uncertainty on the track of this system, and how much precipitation it may bring to the Northland whether it’s rain or snow late next week/next weekend.

A few snow and rain showers will persist in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin this evening, with some redevelopment likely during the day Monday. Most of us won’t see any precipitation at all through Monday, but some locations could be hit by a brief heavy snow shower, but there shouldn’t be much if any snow accumulation tonight or Monday.
NAM 3km model radar forecast thru 11 PM Monday.

Widespread precipitation totals ranging from a half inch to over an inch are possible in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin thru April 30, 2023, with much of this precipitation falling later this week into next weekend, but again there are significant differences in the computer models on the track of this next system for late next week/weekend.
