Well, those few boisterous storms never materialized last night or today, so just another swing and a miss in the forecasting department.

Looks mainly dry in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin tonight and Thursday, and likely into Friday and Saturday as well, but an isolated shower or thunderstorm can’t be ruled out tonight and Thursday, but 90% or more of the area should stay dry.

Should be another warm one on Thursday with highs mainly in the 80s across the Northland with an isolated 90-degree temperature possible. It doesn’t look terribly humid, though, with dew points Thursday afternoon mainly in the 50s to around 60.

Note – 20 days so far this summer (since June 1st) with a high of at least 80 degrees at the Duluth Airport. The average number of days with a high of at least 80 in Duluth from June 1st to August 31st is 25 days.

There are a few isolated storms out there late this afternoon, but they are well south and well north of our area.

Computer models continue to trend drier in much of the Northland for this weekend with the main swath of potentially heavy rainfall totals setting up from southern Minnesota into central Wisconsin where we could see upwards of 1 to 2 inches of rain this weekend, mainly in the Saturday night to Sunday time frame the way it looks now.

At the moment it looks like northern Minnesota will miss out on getting any rain this weekend, while the Twin Ports continues to sit on that border between possibly getting some rain, or no rain at all. If we do end up getting some rain in Duluth and Superior the chances are greatest on Sunday.

Note – Will probably see a few more changes in the computer models over the next day or two regarding the track and timing of the system for this weekend.

It’s been a dry summer across the Northland with rainfall anomalies since June 1st running anywhere from 2 to 4 inches or more below normal.
