Many of us in the Northland are waking up to a light dusting of snow on this Sunday morning the 17th of March.

For Duluth, this is the first measurable we’ve seen since February 27th (0.2″ accumulation).

There’s plenty of cold air moving over the warmer and ice-free waters of Lake Superior today to produce lake effect snow (white outlined areas on map) with 850mb temperatures as low as -10 to -15C.

Lake effect snow showers will continue through the day today along the South Shore in northwest Wisconsin with isolated to scattered flurries and snow showers continuing in northeast Minnesota and for inland locations in northwest Wisconsin.
