Rapid changes persist in this dynamic weather pattern.
Additional rainfall is anticipated from late tonight until about mid-afternoon Saturday, with the heaviest precipitation forecasted for a swath extending from east central to northeast Minnesota and into far northwest Wisconsin, where totals could exceed half an inch. Northern Minnesota and the majority of northwest Wisconsin are projected to receive smaller quantities of rain.
The rain is forecasted to cease gradually from the southwest to the northeast by Saturday afternoon, with a possibility of a few isolated showers persisting later in the day.
Sunday is shaping up to be the drier day of the weekend, with significantly more sunshine anticipated than on Saturday.
It seems we will finally have a respite from the windy conditions this weekend, with lighter wind speeds and gusts expected on both Saturday and Sunday. The forecast suggests winds ranging from 10 to 20 mph.
Duluth area: Rain late tonight into Saturday morning. Rain diminishes Saturday afternoon.

The upcoming weather system is set to impact the Northland, moving northeast from the central/northern Plains later today.

Today, the central and southern Plains are experiencing severe thunderstorms, accompanied by large to giant hail, damaging winds, and a potential for tornadoes. Note: This weekend and into the middle of next week, more severe thunderstorms are anticipated, impacting areas of the Midwest, as well as the central and southern Plains.

The Northland region has experienced higher than average precipitation this spring, with anomalies ranging from approximately a quarter inch to over two inches above the norm since the first of March.

Looking ahead, next week will feature a significant trough and low-pressure system moving northeast out of the Rockies. This system may bring additional rainfall to the Northland during the middle of next week, around May 7th to 9th.
The clouds, fog, and rain cleared out today, and the winds shifted from northeast to west, resulting in significantly warmer temperatures in the Northland compared to those of Thursday. This was particularly evident near Lake Superior, where temperatures rose by approximately 20 to 25 degrees this afternoon in comparison to those of Thursday afternoon.
Across the region this afternoon, temperatures are broadly in the low to mid-60s, with some areas in northwest Wisconsin reaching 70 degrees.
