A cold front over the eastern Dakotas and far northwest Minnesota is expected to move slowly southeastward through Monday. By the time it reaches northern Wisconsin Monday afternoon, it will likely have dissipated significantly.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue tonight into early Monday morning across parts of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. The primary concern with these storms is heavy rainfall, although smaller hail (less than 1 inch in diameter) and wind gusts up to 40 mph may accompany some of the storms this evening.
There may be a redevelopment of showers and thunderstorms on Monday, primarily in areas of northwest Wisconsin and far northeast Minnesota. However, the extent of this rainfall is expected to be less than what was experienced on Sunday afternoon.
Rainfall totals can vary significantly, which is typical of summer rain patterns. Some areas may receive little to no precipitation, while others could accumulate from a half-inch to over an inch of rain tonight.
Eastern Minnesota (south of Duluth) is likely to experience the heaviest rainfall this evening, according to recent radar trends.
Regarding the Twin Ports area, current radar trends suggest minimal rainfall tonight; however, weather conditions can shift rapidly, so the outcome remains to be seen.

Observing several disturbances moving northeastward today. The primary weather system is situated over Illinois, while a second system is present over the Dakotas and a third one is over Montana today.

Another extremely humid late July day in the Northland, with dew points largely in the mid-60s to low 70s. This muggy air mass is expected to persist throughout much of the week. However, there’s a possibility that some areas of the Northland may experience less humid conditions occasionally, with dew points dropping to around 60 degrees. Otherwise, we anticipate dew points will remain between 64 and 73 degrees over the next few days.

The upcoming week promises warmth, at least until Friday, with afternoon temperatures predominantly in the 80s across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

Cooler conditions are expected for the week of August 4th. The blue and green hues on the map indicate below-normal temperatures, highlighting their extensive spread across Canada from August 4th to 9th. Note: The extent to which the cooler air mass will move south, and the duration of its presence if it does reach further south, remains uncertain.

The GEFS model is also indicating a trend towards cooler temperatures (as shown by the blue colors on the loop) for the week of August 4th.
