Update on the system for early next week; Weak clippers early Friday morning and again Saturday

I’m keeping an eye on the computer models for early next week as a complex low-pressure system moves toward the Northland.

There will be one area of energy moving east-southeast from the northern Rockies and another tracking northeast from the southern Plains. It’s unclear how these two systems will interact, but models suggest that the northern energy may absorb the southern one, leading to a deepening system as it reaches the Great Lakes by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

But before that system early next week we have two clipper systems which will bring some light precipitation to parts of the Northland.

The first clipper brings some light snow on Friday morning to the Arrowhead, North Shore, and parts of northwest Wisconsin.

There won’t be much snow accumulation in our area Friday morning with snow totals generally ranging from a trace to an inch at most.

A second clipper system may bring light snow and possibly freezing rain or sleet to the Northland Friday night into Saturday as warmer air arrives. Note: Most of this precipitation is expected to impact the Arrowhead, North Shore, and parts of northwest Wisconsin.
