Some snow will persist in parts of the Northland; however, it is anticipated to diminish from northwest to southeast as the night progresses.
As of 3 PM today, 1.2 inches of snow was reported at the Duluth National Weather Service. Other parts of the Northland have received approximately 1 to 2 inches of snow based on reports from earlier in the afternoon.
Duluth is running -6.2 inches below normal in snowfall this month and -16.1 inches below normal in snowfall since October 1st.
Northeast winds may cause some lake-effect snow along the North Shore of Lake Superior into the Duluth area until approximately 8 PM this evening. After that, the lake-effect snow potential will shift east to the South Shore as winds switch to the north-northwest.
The 850mb temperatures are cold enough to produce lake effect snow tonight, with readings ranging from -12 to -15°C over Lake Superior.
Note — Snow is forecast to diminish in Duluth later tonight around 10 PM to 1 AM.

Additional snowfall tonight
Duluth: 1 to 2 inches of additional snow accumulation is possible through about Midnight tonight.
