A cold weather advisory is in effect for the Arrowhead of Minnesota from late tonight to mid-morning Tuesday, with wind chill temperatures dropping to 30 degrees below zero. More cold weather advisories or warnings could be issued at times in the Northland over the next two weeks as a colder pattern locks in.
A quick shot of snow coming Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning, with another round of snow possible sometime this weekend.

Low temperatures tonight will range from around zero to 15 below across the Northland.
Note: Tonight will likely be the first time since January 24th that Duluth experiences subzero temperatures, which reached -12 degrees on that date.

Check out the temperature differences we observed this afternoon, ranging from subzero conditions in the northern Rockies and northern Plains to 70s and 80s in the southern Plains, with temperatures over 70 degrees reaching as far north as southern Kansas and central Missouri.

Temperature anomalies this afternoon ranged from 30 to 35 degrees below normal over the northern Rockies to 25 to 35 degrees above normal from the Southern Plains to the Ohio Valley.

With today’s extreme temperature differences, there’s a strong jet stream over the northern U.S. moving at 130-150 knots.

All the precipitation today has been limited to the northern U.S., where we’ve experienced some snow or rain.
Another round of snow is expected in the Northland from late Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday morning.
