Hibbing, Minnesota has set a new record low temperature for May 22, with a morning low of 26 degrees. The previous record low for this date was 27 degrees, established in both 2006 and 2009.

Temperatures early Friday morning in the Northland are expected to range from the mid-20s to mid-30s, potentially resulting in a few locations breaking or tying their record low for May 23rd.
An amplified weather pattern continues featuring a large upper low over the Great Lakes and a trough over the Pacific Northwest with a strong ridge over Mexico.
This pattern for the Northland will bring cool nights and mornings with some frost, and afternoon temperatures mostly in the 60s until Memorial Day. The forecast looks mostly dry, but a few isolated showers are possible in the coming days; however, no widespread rain is expected.
