This afternoon, a powerful low-pressure system, measuring approximately 986mb, was positioned over southwest Manitoba. It is forecasted to move northeast and cross far western Ontario by Monday.
Behind this system, snow is falling with windy and colder temperatures in the 30s in parts of Saskatchewan today, while milder temperatures in the 60s and 70s were found ahead of this system today.
A cold front associated with this low will move across the Northland tonight, bringing rain showers along with it. The rain is expected to taper off from west to east later in the night.
Showers are likely in Duluth through late tonight, with rain chances diminishing early Monday morning between 1 and 3 AM.

The Twin Ports might get about a quarter inch of rain tonight, with somewhat heavier rainfall of around a quarter to half an inch expected to the west and north of Duluth. In northwest Wisconsin, the rain will be lighter, ranging from roughly 0.05 to 0.25 inches.
One sign of fall is the stronger low-pressure systems that often develop during this time of year, and sure enough, we’re seeing one today moving northeast across the northern Plains into central Canada.
