No major weather systems are expected to affect northeast Minnesota or northwest Wisconsin for at least the next 7 days, continuing the dry fall. Since September 1st, Duluth has seen 4.06 inches less precipitation than usual, with a total year-to-date deficit of over 10 inches at -10.14 inches.

Northwest Wisconsin is experiencing one of its top ten driest falls on record by climate district, while parts of North Dakota are seeing one of their top ten wettest falls on record by climate district.

The brown areas on the map below are experiencing drier-than-average conditions this fall, while the green areas are seeing above-average precipitation.

With the cold air moving out, slightly warmer temperatures are making their way into northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin today.

This evening, temperatures are about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than they were at 5 PM on Monday.

Today’s highs hit the upper 30s and 40s across the Northland, with Brainerd topping out at 50 degrees. These temperatures are around 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the usual temperatures for November 11th.

The rest of the week will bring highs in the upper 30s to 40s on Wednesday, climbing into the 40s and 50s for Thursday and Friday, before cooler temperatures make a comeback this weekend.

These are the temperatures recorded at 5 PM today, Tuesday.

A few rain showers are possible late Friday into Saturday as a cold front and trough move east from the northern Plains, but this system isn’t expected to bring significant or widespread precipitation.

Another system southwest of California Saturday morning, will lift quickly northeast early next week, but precipitation associated with that system looks to pass south of the Northland early next week.
