Northland Weather: Expect some rain tonight, followed by a warmer weekend

A mid- and upper-level low and trough over the northern Plains will move northeast tonight, bringing some rain to northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin through early Saturday morning. After that, warmer temperatures are on the way, especially by Sunday and Memorial Day, with highs in the 70s and even 80s. However, lake breezes near Lake Superior could keep temperatures quite a bit cooler in those areas on Sunday and Monday.

Duluth area: Rain chances peak tonight, with a few isolated pop-up showers or thunderstorms possible on Sunday and Memorial Day, though most of those days should stay dry. The coolest day will be Saturday, with warmer temperatures returning on Sunday and Monday.

Most of the rain today has been falling across the eastern Dakotas and stretching into western and central Minnesota, with scattered showers farther east.

Rainfall in northeast Minnesota will range from about 0.10 to 0.30 inches through Saturday morning, with some spots seeing a bit more. Northwest Wisconsin will get less rain, from just a trace up to around 0.20 inches.
