Soil moisture in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin reveals wetter conditions in the Arrowhead region and parts of the North Shore, shown as blue on the map, while drier areas are marked in red and orange.

Next week, the weather pattern in the upper Midwest looks to become a bit more active, with the first wave moving northeast across the area on Monday. However, the trough linked to this system will encounter a lingering ridge over the Great Lakes, likely resulting in weak height falls and a general weakening of the trough. Despite this, there seems to be enough moisture, warm air, and instability in the region on Monday to potentially trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Additional chances for rain are in the forecast for mid to late next week as we may see another system take aim at the region.
